''A beautiful and intense nose of apples, vanilla; under the ripe fruit. Full-bodied and soft with a lovely freshness and a long finish. Vibrant and fresh. From 100% Albillo grown in the Gredos mountains.'' 93 Points, James Suckling (Previous Vintage Review)
''This is expressive and very varietal, strong aromatics with a mixture of herbal and citrus characters. Lovely.'' 91 Points, Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate Magazine (Previous Vintage Review)
''Highly aromatic, pears and floral notes. Broad and spicy on the palate.'' Jancis Robinson.com (Previous Vintage Review)
The name 'Picarana' refers to a bird that inhabits the highest points of the hill where the vineyard is located. Aromas like jasmine combine with faintly tropical fruit and a dairy hint to the nose. On the palate, there is a weight and richness to the wine from the barrel fermentation, but the minerality keeps the wine fresh. There's plenty of white florals, lycee and apricot here; but it's also fresh and bright looking almost Northern Rhone-white like in it's texture and depth.
